ABOUT

RACE FANS

How did Race Fans come about?  Where did the idea come from? See, Kris moved to Florida with his parents and his brother Jason in 1990 when he was 18.  He and Jason would take their vacation every year in the month of May just to go to the 500.  Sometimes they would fly, but oftentimes they would leave the Wednesday evening before the race only to make it into Indianapolis in time to attend Carb Day when it was on a Thursday.  It was these long road trips, about 900 miles through the night, that Kris had the idea for a documentary.  With an "Indy 500 or Bust" sign in the car window, Kris and Jason would make the "pilgrimage to Mecca".  Upon his move back home to Indiana in 2015 Kris realized it was time to make his dream of making a documentary a reality.  Race Fans focuses on Kris and his family's many trips to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500 over the years.  Before the famed Yellow Shirts, Kris' grandfather, Carl Nay used to be a guard at IMS when the speedway utilitized the Indiana National Guard. Kris remembers his grandfather telling him of seeing the famous Duke Nalon crash in 1949.  Both of Kris' parents used to attend events at the speedway including his mother witnessing Parnelli Jones breaking the 150 MPH barrier in 1962 and his dad witnessing many famous races from 1964 to 1968.  All of these memories are here along with the memories of Kris, Scott, Jason, and Joe Branch as well as their cousin Andy Rolfe. So sit back, relax and enjoy the doucumentary  that is Race Fans
